Blacky The Therapy Dog

Blacky

Hi, I am Blacky the Therapy Dog at the clinic. I look forward to meeting you – and to becoming good friends. I really enjoy my job here at the clinic, I have many duties but the most important is making you feel welcome. If you need me I am usually close by. I love to have my head rubbed and scratching behind my ear feels great. By the way, did you know rubbing my head, scratching my ears and talking to me lowers your blood pressure? Walking with patients is such a joy and if you want to walk to the river I can lead the way. Oh and by the way I love to show off at the river and show you how I catch fish. Picture taking is a lot of fun and I love to have my photo taken. Another thing I want you to know about me is that I am a very good listener and I can make you smile with just one look with my big brown eyes.

Not to worry if you are not a big dog lover, I have other responsibilities around the clinic that keep me busy every day. I sometimes visit with the horse, Spirit, to make sure he is OK and when I am not with the horse I will check on the goats. I have been very busy assisting with the care of the new baby goat that has been ill. Last summer I became sick and with the treatments I received from the doctors I also experienced a journey back to health. I look forward to meeting you and if you like, being one of your therapy assistants while you are here at Vision of Hope on your own journey to vital health.

You will possibly fall in love with me and want to take me home with you but remember I must stay to help everyone. I am so proud of my title Therapy Assistant.

The doctors, staff and I look forward to meeting you.

Our March 2010 Treatment program was a huge success. The group learned about the importance of Flower Essences and we made our own personalized blend. We also participated in creating new recipes. For those of us who did not know how to use a dehydrator it was fun and informative. We made crackers and cereal and almond milk to mention a few.

“After our initial fasting we learned the importance of healthy eating. I loved learning how to turn some of my favorite unhealthy foods into healthy dishes. One patient said “this is great, come and eat this great food it is so good and while you are here participate in your therapy program.

Our group was very diverse. We had patients from Arizona, Colorado, Mexico and as far away as Australia. We had fun starting our journeys back to vital health together. Blacky, the Therapy Dog loves her job and was so helpful in assisting us. We attended Yoga classes outside on the patio and enjoyed the view of the mountains at the same time. We created a family bond by helping each other, holding a hand when needed and wiping a tear away brought us closer, and the laughter we had was so healing. We will be back next year for a reunion to visit, have fun and continue our Health Journeys. Thank you to the doctors, staff and Blacky.”
